Hi, our countertops in our kitchen are made from wood, is there anything I can buy to protect our work surfaces from damp as the wood wraps around the sink etc. pls?

kitchen fitter should have given about 2/3 coats of danish oil. Just buy some and rub in with cloth

Any decent hardware store will stock it. Woodworkers in Mount Tallant would be a good source if that's convenient for you.

Liberon finishing oil is much better than Danish oil. Use light coats rubbed on with a cloth or even better some very fine steel wool.

Thanks will get that so.

Sorry, forgot to ask, how often should I apply this oil and also, can you use pledge on top of this, I have an island with a wooden top and it gets quite dirty every day.

I reapply the finish once a year, and clean the worktop every day in between with the usual kitchen cleaner. If you use something highly abrasive you will need to reapply the finish more often, that's all.
