Property left behind by former owner

We bought a house 2 months ago. The former owner left several valuable items in storage with the promise she will arrange the clearing of such. We haven't had any contacts from her whatsoever. How much longer we will have to wait in order to claim these items as ours?
thanks.

2 months isn't a very long time. Could you not out of politeness send a note to her to ask when she will move them. For all you know something might have happened (injury, illness etc) that might have meant she wasn't able to get in touch. It seems a bit mercinary to be eyeing them up for yourselves after two months!

thanks for your replay eventhough your comment was a little drastic. "Mercenary" is a tough word considering not having any idea of how things are. We did try to contact her several times by several ways, even the time when the front gate broke locking us inside the house for hours... didn't receive a call back from her out of concern. We have also tried to contact her relativies. I was asking for legal advices to have a rough idea of how to handle this matter in the future. Laws are also made to protect good people from those whom take advantage of situations like this.
Thanks a lot anyways.

Have you tried contacting the Estate Agent whom you bought the house through? They should have a forwarding address for the Seller. You said that you tried to contact her relatives. Were you successful?
