Has anyone any info on a new development in Carrick-on-Suir, on St John's Rd ? What is the rental market like in the area?

Do you know the name of the development and if its finished or not?

Dont think it has started yet, but the location is St.John's Rd?

Sorry Shea, not familiar with the development. Might know more over the next few weeks after I venture back there. Rental is not a premium in the town. St. Johns is outside the main area of the town on the Kilkenny road. Lots of development has gone on there over the last few years and there is no shortage of rental properties. I cant see the rent coming near the mortgage and Carrick is hardly the employment bright spot thats going to attract investment + people over the next few years...

A lot of properties to rent at the moment in Carrick on Suir. Plus there is a new development starting across the pond from St Johns starting soon. Its called Kings Court
The house are a lot bigger then St Johns and they will the preferred choice if going by the plans are correct.

Carrick rents are low compared to other place but there is a reason for that. No Industry in the town ,its basically a commuter town for Clonmel, Waterford and Kilkenny. High unemployment, social problems, lack of amenities.

Rents are low and are getting lower and the properties on the market are taken longer to shift.

Saying that its a good place to get a good size house cheap to rent

There seems to be a lot of properties for rent in Carrick-on-Suir at the moment. The main issue with rental is that it is a commuter town due to the low level of local employment. Although, there are plans for a huge biotechnology park just outside the town backed by the Ronans (of Louis Ronan Fame). Most houses sold in Carrick-on-Suir during the boom were investors and young families in starter homes that couldn't get on the property ladder in the bigger towns like Waterford or Kilkenny.

With regards to the rental market, you have to note that there are a lot of homes for rent in the area. Lower house prices in an area generally also mean lower rents.

Edenrose is right about Kingscourt which looks like a fine development in an underdeveloped park of the town. I would have to disagree with regards to the amenities, for a small town it is rich in activities / clubs and has a bad reputation probably due to more historical reasons than current ones. It has the same social issues of any town its size.

I see from the local papers at the weekend that the Bio-technology park was granted planning permission for Carrick-on-Suir. Apparently up to 3,500 jobs and a new bridge west of the town. I would wonder though, in the current economic climate where all these jobs are going to come from?
