House has the following heating system
Oil boiler with 3 zones, DHW, Ground floor and 1st floor

Ground and 1st floor will have 1 programmable stat in the main rooms (Master bedroom and Kitchen) with the rest of the rooms having TRV's on the rads

What would be the best type of programmable stat's to use, and how should I control the DHW ?
 
Be mindful of where in the kitchen you locate stat. Cooking will affect reading.

Control DHW with a cylinder stat connected to a motorised valve that will shut down circulation once preset temp is reached. Be sure and have a bypass fitted, either link flow and return at cylinder before motorised/zone valve or connect bathroom radiator to primary circuit. PC is flow and return to cylinder, also good foe summertime when hot water is on rad in bathroom will heat up. Good for keeping towels warm.
 
What type of controller do I need for the DHW........can the time be programmed for one of the stats of does it need a seperate unit

Also when people refer to programmable stats what is ment by channels i.e 3 channel, 4 channel ets ?
 
don't mix up a time clock with a stat. The amount of channels a time clock has will be directly linked to the amount of zones you have. 1 channel for each zone, so you can control them seprately. you would need a 3 channel time clock.

I'm very confused, is the 3 channel time clock seperate from the programmable stat?

I alway thought the the programmable stat had a time and temp function ?

Therefore I need, 2 programmable stats for ground floor and 1st floor and a seperate clock for the DHW ??

Or do I need ,2 no stats for ground and 1st floor and one 3 channel time clock..........
 
this won't be cheap I imagine

I got ones from Flash that do the job, however it only has 2 temp settings and on/off every half hour but its enough. Also has a holiday mode. Cost less than €40

Was just using as example.

OP could just get two standard programmable room stats and a seperate time clock for DHW.
