Problems with Sound on Sony TV & DVD Player

Hi All,

We have a Sony 28 inch TV(model is about 5 years old) and a Sony DVD player. For some reason when we are watching DVDs the background music to the film/show is really loud and we can barely make out what the actors are saying?? We have to have the TV turned up nearly to the loudest(deafening us with the background music/noise) just to make out what is being said? Does anyone else have this problem?

Was wondering was it a problem with the TV speakers and would getting external speakers help? Or this might just magnify the problem?

Anyone any advise? Hope it's not new TV/DVD time :-(

Thanks,

C

Have you tried different audio settings on the DVD player? If I recall correctly one of my Sony DVD players has a setting that is supposed to emphasise dialogue over background sound/music.

I've never tried it myself but it might be worth a whirl.

Does sound like summat's gone on the DVD player though, if you're not having the same problem with normal TV.

Best of luck with it.

I have a Sony TV (6 years old) and Sony DVD (5 years old) and suffered the same problem, tried all the settings... needed to have telly really loud to hear DVD.. got blasted when I switched back to TV channels.

I use a surround sound system now when watching DVD's, much improved experience especially when watching a good action movie or trying to catch the dialog in The Deer Hunter.
