Problem with a Delta Performance Combination Boiler

Can anyone advise me on a problem with a Delta boiler.The hot water in the house has been slightly discoloured for a few months now(light black colour).The boiler is only 6 years old.My plumber has told me that there is a crack internally and that the hot water is mixing with the heating water - therefore the boiler is crocked and needs to be replaced.Is this true or could there be another less expensive problem ?

Bad news is that it sounds like the only logical explanation.

Combi boilers would be heating up and down far more often than a regular boiler so can be under more stress from heating and cooling down.

I am not overly familar with this boiler, however it does look like a replacement is on the cards as it is one big unit.
