Primary School teaching, whats the best route to take through college?

I finished my leaving certificate last year and took a year out to discover what i wanted to do as a career, now, i'm more determined than ever to be a primary school teacher.
I have 400pts and i dont have the required level of Irish, but i plan to go to UCC to do Early childhood studies while taking on the tIonad na Gaeilge Labharthahe course at night.
I know its quite competitive to get into the 1 and a half year Post Grad in Mary I and i'm wondering is this the best possible route or could anyone suggest a better alternative?

You'll still need honours Irish in the Leaving Cert for the postgrad option... here is the course in Mary I. I'm no sure if the tIonad na Gaeilge Labharthahe is equivalent. You can always ring the admissions office and find out.

Your other options are the UK or N. Irl (www.ucas.co.uk) and then take the Irish equivalancy test when you finish (you have 5 years I think to pass it). AFAIK some courses in the UK will pay you to become a teacher.

Hi, Im thinking of going back to do it as a mature student and I dont have the irish either. Im going to repeat honours level leaving cert Irish and do it through fas and also do a part time Arts degree at night in Maynooth College. It will take 4 yrs and then you can teach but then I will do an 18month on line course with Hibernan to get the teaching qualification.
Its an option for you too but if anyone else out there has a quicker way of getting it done part time, please share!
