I was in my local Post Office yesterday. A woman in the queue wanted to purchase a book of the new priced 72c stamps. The 70c stamp goes to 72c as and from today.
She was refused. She was told that they could only be sold from the 21st.
Why are people not allowed to purchase these stamps in advance?
€0.72 seems very expensive to send a letter but, from your link; “However the significant cost of supporting An Post’s Universal Service Obligation (USO) will require attention.
“The USO requires An Post to provide daily collection and delivery service to all areas of the country for a uniform tariff. In 2015 the cost of maintaining the USO was €32.3m.”
Yet another example of urban dwellers subsidising rural dwellers.
