I have a rented house that I pay all necessary taxes, prtb etc on. I was caught off guard last year that when the payment was calculated by my accountant that I had to prepay (preliminary payment for 2012 too). Other years interest, repairs, medical bills etc. had kept this down.
From my rough calculations for this coming October I'm going to find it difficult to pay the preliminary payment for the coming year. Is there a way to try pay this monthly. I've been looking at the revenue site and its not clear, my accountant wasn't too helpful either he mentioned a direct debit but didn't say much else. I contacted revenue and they told me to ring dd section which I plan too but thought I'd check here first.
If I set up a direct debit from this month say can I just pay monthly or come October will I have to pay in a lump sum the due tax for 2012 and the preliminary for 2013 or would the fact I'm on dd let me just pay that monthly?
