Hi
Could someone please let me know what the situation is if a co-worker is pregnant but is a bit of a trouble maker and being a bully? I have been told that an employer can not speak with a pregnant woman??? Thinking that this may be due to the fact that they could claim to then be stressed and need time off work and the company will have to pay them....

Thanks....

Your employer has a duty of care to you also.
If you are being bullied... it makes no differance if the person is pregnant. Employers are "wary" of pregnant ladies as it is very protected by laws. That said, why should you have to deal with being bullied and not get support from your HR/managers.
Note down the past/current issues and formally give this to either your manager or HR rep. They have to act on it.... this might be a meeting with both of you however depending on how you feel you can decline this and take a formal case against this bully.

i have been taking down the issues as suggested by my boss - he from what i can make out though does not want to persue the issue because she is pregnant but there is only so much i can take before i crack!! a meeting was previously suggested which i agreed to and she refused so i won't be offering that one again!

Thats is completely unfair and you should not have to put up with this. Your boss has a duty of care to you and if you have presented him with the issues and he does not act then he is as bad as the bully.

- Can I ask is it a small/big company you work for.
- Do you have a HR rep you can talk to.

That's ridiculous. I would be completely embarrassed by any special treatment because of pregnancy other than perhaps opening doors etc. Treat her as you would anyone in this situation.

Your boss is facilitating the bullying by being aware of the issue and not taking action. You might remind him that he owes a duty of care to all his employees and that not taking action in respect of the pregnant bully may result in action being taken by you.

To be clear; your boss organised a meeting with him/her, you and the other party and the other party refused to go?!
Your boss sounds like a wimp.
