Postponing Claiming Medical Expenses

Hi,
My tax credits in year 2011 are greater than my tax liabilities and as such there is no point in me claiming some significant medical expenses. If I claim them in 2012 or 2013 will the releif on medical expenses be applied in the year I claim or the year they were incurred.

You can only obtain relief in the year you incurred the expenses.

Only chance you may have is if the actual bills were paid in a different year than when the procedures took place you can claim in either year afaik. E.g. if you had an operation in October 2010 but paid for it when they sent you the bill in Jan 2011, I think you can claim in either 2010 or 2011.
