Hi all,
I am being taking "voluntary" redundancy in a couple of weeks.. I heard about it last June and I went into an awful state... No jobs out there etc etc.. but now I am totally ok with it. There seems to be more jobs around then ever the last yr.. Can I be positive and say that maybe things are getting better? I hope so!:)

Well I dunno about more jobs around than ever but from the point of view of the business I work in, yes, there are definitely encouraging signs. Some consumer confidence seems to have returned IMO anyway.

Some customers who were seemingly 'holding off' on orders for the last 9 -12 months are now, almost out of the blue, placing those orders.

Caveat - yes I should of said something like you said, there are definitely more encouraging signs....
I hate to even come here and say I think its looking better incase I totally Jinx myself, but when I was looking in June, there is nothing I could of applied for. Now there is a few I can... although I am sure there are lots more then ever applying too!!! I work in IT Area..
However I am going to stay positive as I am kind of sick of the doom and gloom of the economy.

maybe I was wrong........
after much investigation into several jobs over the internet, on diff websites, it seems a LOT of the agencies are rewording job specs and making it look like there is a lot of jobs but really 5 jobs could be the same job............ :(

You should keep trying. Yes, there are multiples out there, but there is a little more availability now than in the summer. Keep at it, look at individual companies' websites, sign up to recruitireland, etc. Get people you trust to review your CV. Do some voluntary work in between if you can, especially if IT related.

Great minds think alike... I registered today to volunteer today. I am going to try and get in somewhere to teach basic or advanced whatever is need - Computer training. I have yrs of experience in this field and also have some qualifications to teach it too..
I also have great patience teaching it i.e. I would be great with young kids or more senior adults who would like to learn! I am excited about sharing my free time now to help others.....
I will keep looking for jobs, no way I will give up. I also am meeting a good friend next week to help me fix up my CV....
