Has anyone had an experience cutting porcelain tiles? Is there any special method or can you just use a regular tile cutter and tile saw? Also what can you use to seal a slate hearth , would regular varnish do? Thanks.

I had a tiler who had a major issue with our porcelain tiles and he couldn't cut thme with a normal tile cutter and had to hire a big wet cutter so if they are strong porcelain tiles you will need one of these. Mind you now the porcelain tiles are on the wall and floor they look spectacular !Good Luck

Hello Fingalian
To seal slate or other "porous" type tiles, including terracotta you need to buy "Hagesan" Tile sealer, available from tile shops, just brush/ sponge/ roll it on and allow to dry. gives a very slight sheen to the tiles and makes them wipeable.
