I was just wondering if anyone knows anywhere I could get my hands on a pocket door system The system where the door slides into the wall. I would also like to see it in action. I am doing up my house and would like to use this system Thanks for time.

The door depot in cork have this system on display the door depot in Dublin is the same group so i presume they would have it also.

Hi,

What i did was use Jefferson Hanging Door Rails. I then built the Stud Walls using 34mm timber rather than using 3x2 leaving a 50mm spacing between them, result is that the wall is only 10 -20 mm thicker than a standard wall and the door retract inside it as with pocket doors systems.

Ryan - Neil, This sounds like the system I'm looking for. Can you tell me where you got the Jefferson hanging system. Also have you had any problems with noise between the walls when the doors are closed. Thanks v.much for your time.

Hi,

Believe it or not i got it in Woodies.. Also any of the door stores will have them... just to clarify a bit more what i did is built outside frame out off 4x2, thats two wall and ceiling. Like three sides of a box.. Then i added another 4x2 that the rails would hang from and i built the 34mm studs inside of on either side of the door rail. The hung the doors and slabbed the entire structure. As for sound no i have no issues at all... I can hear no additional noise at all, i used solid doors and there is a few mill each side of the door left in the wall and once they butt up together there is a good seal as the door is actually inside the wall on all sides bar at the floor as is standard.

Frank101 you just dragged out two threads from 2008 and put the same company reference on them as a post - clearly advertising!! You are supposed to declare any interest. I'm sure people will see this post for what it is, an ad not a genuine post.
