just got new kitchen made and installed. as part of this we moved dishwasher and washing machine and the plumber now has all three wastes meeting under sink and going out in one he said to avoid smells. this creates some noise as appliances empty. i am just wondering is this common practice? hygienic? could it lead to problems if one gets blocked? they haven't finished the kitchen so now is the time to question. any advice would be great
iI WOULD AGREE WITH DAVYJONES THAT IT IS COMMON PRACTICE, BUT ITS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE DUE TO SPACE RESTRICTIONS UNDER THE SINK TO RUN THREE WASTES. BUT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE YOU SHOULD AT LEAST RUN TWO ,PUTTING THE D/WASHER ON ITS OWN. AS A MINIMUM YOU NEED TO FIT A TEE JOINT WITH A CLEANING EYE INSTEAD OF JUST AN ELBOW

I probably would not change it unless the noise was a real problem for OP. the chances of a blockage are small, depending what you put down the kitchen sink.
Give em a break, WIFESLIST probably didn't mean it
