Plumbing from hot

Hi,
Can a dishwasher and washing machine be plumbed into the hot supply - to take advantage of hot water from Solar panels. It seems such a waste to plumb into the cold supply and then get the machine to heat the water.
I notice from my web searches that all such appliances in the US use the hot supply and in the UK only the cold.

i can see your point.the trouble is controlling the temp. of the water. what i do is pump in warm water and let the m/c then heat up to the correct temp.
