Hi, I really hope someone can help me with this. Im in the middle of what are very very fast moving negotiations with my employer regarding my job and salary. I will have to work increased hours etc etc. In any event they have asked me how much gross I want yearly. I know what I need to take home weekly to make the extra hours worthwhile, but Im not sure how to get a gross yearly figure for this and my husband is uncontactable for the next two days, I need to have an answer pretty quick and I am afraid of selling myself short. I would really appreciate if someone could help me

I need €470 take home per week.

I am married (My husband is a public servant and earns about 49k a year before tax, deductions etc)

I have no other income, no company cars, no perks, no pension, no healthcare provided by my employer.

We have two dependant kids,

We have a house with a mortgage (Slight negative equity)

Could anyone tell me what I need to ask for gross to ensure I take home €470.

Have I given enough info above to work this out

Very rough estimate: 56K gross results in about 5K gross per month, about 3K take home per month, which is about 750 take home per week.

Try this:

Weekly tax credit 63.46
weekly cut off 630.77
prsi class A1
52 WEEKS

Gross 30,000.00
tax 2,700.08
prsi 936.00
usc 1,418.80

Net pay 24,945.12

Total payroll cost to employer 33,225.04

weekly net pay 479.71

It may slightly change if you have a higher tax credit

taxcal . eu
is a very good website. Can throw in various figures and see what you will take home on a weekly/monthly/yearly basis.

Remember to budget in some excess, just in case of mortgage/tax increases over the coming years.

Thanks guys that is really really helpful. The online calculators are great also.

I really appreciate you taking time to reply - Im a lot less stressed than I was.
