I heard somewhere thay there had to be a certain distance between an existing house and a new development (the example being say a mews at the end of a garden). Can't quite recall what that is and would be grateful if someone could clarify, I thought it was either 22 ft or 22 metres - any help would be appreciated.

It is actually 22metres between opposing first floor windows.
Obviously different counties have different interpretation but I think the 22 metres is standard.

You can ask co council to send you out their document detailing the exemptions for planning - its useful to have it in writing.
