Hi I need some advice, I have got on offer from a big 4 firm in audit. I am going to have to choose which area to specialize in small business, banking, insurance, funds etc.

I think that I will be offered financial services but have been told that this will pigeon hole me.

Is this the case or is it possible to move in to other industries once qualified?

Would it be possible to set up your own business at some stage with this experience ?

go for small business.

Funds is SFA good to you unless you want to stay in that industry for good. The more specialised industries will pretty much keep you in Dublin long term so you might consider that if you're a non-Dub or would like the good life at some stage.

If you possibly want to go into business on your own then your only option is small business.

Big 4 looks good on a CV but if you're someone who wants to do their own thing in the future you might be better off going for a smaller practice where you might learn the ropes of the job you intend to do long term - i.e. get some exposure to accounts prep, tax, co sec etc. etc.
