i'm asking this for a friend who is claiming illness benefit for past 3yrs due to panic/anxiety attacks she has 3 kids and a partner who works, she looks after her dad also who lives next door 2 her, she does everything for him dress, wash, cook, clean ect... he has liver/heart problems which causes him to blackout, he has broken his leg/hip/pelvis recently due to these blackouts and falling over hence the need to dress, wash, cook, and clean for him, he is currently in a wheelchair!

I think she should be entitled to some form of carers allowance/benefit but she doesnt think she'd b entitled to because she recieves illness benefit and her partner works, he wouldnt be on a great wage!

What do you'se think?

thanks carrielou, i'll print the information out and show her later! i'll try get her 2 fill forms in and bring them to her dads gp! she'll probably come up with a load of excuses as to why she shouldnt:(

She should also apply for the respite care grant which is payable once a year in May/June. Think its over €1000.

Every little helps
