My solicitor requested title documents from Pepper over 6 weeks ago. They are very slow and a pain to deal with in general.
Pepper have now written to me seeking photocopies of two forms of official ID, and of two forms of proof of address by post. You can't even email them which seems bizarre in this day and age.
Can I just tell them they are getting one of each and that's all they need for AML purposes. Surely they cannot state a valid passport is not enough to verify ID, and same for official proof of address. No other institution has ever asked for two of each.
What confuses me here is they have purchased loads of loans, yet appear to have performed no due diligence to determine ownership of what was purchased. Also, would the seller of the loans not be obliged to confirm ID of all owners before transfer?
Now they are happy to slow up a sale while they get all this documentation by post.
