Hi, I will be 66 in August and have been awarded a State Con. Pension (SCP) commencing from Aug. 9. My employer has asked if I would consider staying on (full time, at least 1yr). The job would be part funded by CSP (15 hrs) and my employer (24 hrs). Does anyone know if I can defer my pension (even though it’s ready to roll) and take up this position in August. I have emailed both social welfare (pension section) and revenue but they’re very slow to respond. What is the procedure for deferring your pension. Thank you.
You can start to claim your State Pension (Contributory) at any age between 66 and 70. This page explains who can defer (delay) their State Pension (Contributory), rates for different age groups, and how to apply.
