Hi,
Trying to close on a house as quick as possible.

I am just wondering the quickest way to get balance to Solicitor:
1. Cheque
2. Bank draft

What would you suggest?

Many thanks.

Solicitor will probably only accept a bank draft as otherwise s/he will have to wait for a cheque to clear. Bank draft definitely quicker, or else electronic funds transfer if your bank will accomodate it.

I am with Bank of Ireland. So can I go into any branch and get one? And since it's a good bit of money, I'll probably need passport etc?

If I got my solicitor's banks account details, could I just go into a branch and wire the money directly to their account?

Many thanks.

If you bring Photo Id (passport, driving license..) to any branch of your bank, they should facilitate.

You will need your solicitor's

- Bank Sort Code
- Bank Account Number
- Account Name

and the transfer should happen. If however your solicitor's bank is outside this jurisdiction you will need

- IBAN Number
- BIC Code
- Bank Name and Address
- Solicitor's name and address
