Paying mortgage for house we didn't get keys for!!!

We were buying house from acc bank but in the midst of a very long house sale they sold their loan book to another bank . We were advised to keep cheque because to send back would for a second time cancel mortgage. Now we r paying mortgage since Dec and sale agreed since may 2018. Any advice.

To send back cheque to ebs we would owe 1000 in interest and can't cancel sale because of signed contracts. !!

What does your solicitor say.

That we should wait because she has the contracts and the deeds and the letter has to eventually come so she can finish sale! She can't register us with the land registry without it so won't send them the money until she gets the letter.
