I was self employed a few years ago and I am looking at my credits for pension entitlement. I am told by my accountant that I paid class “S” credits for two years. I have no details or knowledge of what was paid, I assume this was paid via my tax. Is it calculated by the week or year? How do I prove that they were paid?

A self-employed person would not have payslips or a P60.

Is it not printed on your Notice of Assessment tax form from the Revenue?

Write to the SW Records Section, Gandon House, Amiens St, Dublin1 giving your PPS number and request a copy of your SW payments and credits.

They will send you a full record of all your payments and credits for your full working life.

It could take up to 12 weeks to obtain this record

Calculating your pension from that record is not rocket science if you have a good knowledge of civil service speak, but is complex as you seem to have mixed rate contributions. Perhaps I can help when you have the records
