I reach pension age this December & received confirmation in October '24 from DWP that I do qualify to buy voluntary contributions.
I subsequently applied to buy class 2 (for appropriate years) for which I am awaiting confirmation...from follow up telephone conversations I believe it could take "up to 6 months" for a reply.
So, While waiting to hear if I do qualify for class 2 and jeopardise the deadline date (5/4/25) I am considering buying class 3 for all the years and request a refund for the overpayment (assuming I am eligible for at least some years at class 2 rate)....
Has anyone done this or able to shed any light on this plan of action?
