PAYE Taxation of daily allowances (abroad)

Is there a limit to the level of daily allowance a paye can receive when working abroad?

according to revenue, the only rules are that the daily allowance must not exceed 'civil service' rates, which are at a quite high-end €130/day for up to 56 days, but according to our finance department there is a quarterly published cap on the daily amount allowable in a foreign country without being liable for tax, and this is published each quarter by revenue.

I can't find a reference to this anywhere... does anyone know where this list is published?

It is not available online - you have to ring your local tax office and request that this be sent to you. This is referred to on leaflet IT54.

I have had trouble getting this information in the past, as you may need to ring several times to find someone who knows what you are talking about.
