My neighbours, both in their 70s and each receiving state pension and a private pension, were discussing with me the amount of PAYE tax they are paying. They have never claimed medical expenses and weren't even aware they could.
How much would a tax advisor cost to review their situation and help reclaim anything due.

No need to pay anybody, just post details here and ask for advice here.

My first advice - are they registered for PAYE Anytime?

Second - they should check the value of their tax credits, this is easy to do.

They should be getting total tax credits of 1650+1650+1650+1650+490 Age tax credit.

I can't understand how anybody living in Ireland isn't aware that tax relief is available on most medical expenses.

Anyways, they should keep a record of all med exps, and keep receipts.

Note that as they are over 70, it is very likely that they have med cards, so their med exps would very likely be very low.
