Hi,
Has anyone bought anything from pixmania.ie and been asked to fax a copy of your passport or driver's license to validate the order along with proof of delivery address? Trying to buy a camera but don't wanna send this info...is it safe?

I'm sure it is safe but I've never been asked to send that info to pixmania, or any other website where I'm paying by credit card...

Are you applying for credit with them?

My husband uses them a lot, bought a video camera and few other bits from them. He's never had a problem. As I recall he also had to send them photocopies of his ID, can't remember why though.

Don't know if they do credit but using a credit card has been fine for us.

Small word of caution though, as everything comes from Europe you might not get english instructions, made trying to work out the functions of my camcorder fun..not!

Thanks, would love to know why they need d info...its one camera im buying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister was asked to fax through passport etc. details when she ordered on a credit card with her maiden name but the delivery address had her married name or something like that. In short there was some mismatch in her details (her fault not Pixmania's) which led to hassle. In the end she cancelled the order and I executed it for her using my own account.

It's an anti-fraud measure.
I had to do it (or something similar) the first time I placed the order.
