Part time Java developer ?

Long story, abbreviated as much as possible.

Science graduate (Dip Chemistry).
Employed by a blue chip manufacturing (Technical role) for 8 years.
Started a degree in IT last year, will finish in 2009 with a pass degree.
If finances permit will progress to finish honours degree by 2010.
The course i'm doing is daytime so I need time off from work to do it.
I work shift so the time needed off averaged over 2 weeks is 10 hours.
I have been working this time back and average >40hrs per week.

Employer has withdrawn support for educational leave, will be allowed to finish this academic year.
The course has two languages Java and RPG and by May I will essentially be qualified to National certificate level in both.

My question: Does anyone consider it feasible for a company to take me on in a part time capacity as a graduate Java developer so that I can continue to study?

To clarify, has your employer ceased to grant new educational leave applications or have they tyold you that on a certain date, the support for you will cease?

Was it part of your contract?

The best options for finding a suitable alternate employer is probably the college or classmates that are in a similar situation. I would not have thought that many development jobs are shift work so it may be quite challenging to find what you are looking for.

Is the same course also offered at night time or by distance learning?

Not part of my contract, but plenty of precedent and this wouldn't be part of anyones contract in here.
I would be only delighted to stop working shift, that's part of the motivation for studying.
Same or similar course not offered by night locally that can progress to an hons degree, it's fundamenatlly a programming course.
