Hi, we were kinda in the same predicament, just the hall, landing, sunroom and 4 bedrooms,so we got this man in who did all the above for €800, some rooms needed undercoat, etc but we supplied paint, he brought another man with him and he was there for 4 days and got a lot done. He quoted us €120 per day but because there was 2 of them, he charged the above in the end which we were happy to hand over. Saved my neck! Just get an hourly rate. Go from there.
Any decent painter will not work on an hourly basis. If you find one that will, you'll get what you pay for. Things are not that bad that tradesmen have to beg for work.
Thanks. That sounds like a good quote. We have painters here in work so I am going to try them first because I know them well. Just wanted to have an idea of costs before I spoke to them.
Hubby is prfessional painter/decorator and says he never heard of anyone charging an hourly rate. Don't go there!!
Be very sure of whats included in your quote - especially if you're providing the paint. For example, if there's any repair work (tiny cracks, gaps between walls and skirtings etc etc) will that work be done as you go along.? Any decent painter worth their salt will do those kind of things - but some will literally just paint. Ask if it's an inclusive price - don't get done for "extras" at the end.
