Painting Disaster

I painted a small room with a dark yellow satin emulsion about a week ago. It was a disaster because no matter how many coats i put on it, it was never even and the roller marks were very obvious. So I bought new lighter paint and painted over the mess. All was going well ontill I noticed small blisters appearing and now the walls are covered in these. What can I do now. I was thinking of wall papering but is this wise considering the wall have so many small blisters. Would the paper even stick well? I'd appreciate advice on what my options are besides knocking down the house. Thanks.

Panic Over

The panics over. My other half went picking at the blisters and discovered he could peel the whole lot off. Its actually coming off like wall paper that hasn't yet dried. The great thing is, all the paint, new and old is just peeling off in large amounts so it won't take too long to have my room back to normal.

I will need advice on 1)why it happened in the 1st place 2) what i can do to prevent it happening again.

Is it possible the walls became damp over the winter because we didnt use that room and didn't have any heat in there. The wall didn't have any damp signs like mould.

Any Clues?

Maybe you used the wrong type of paint. Did you put on an undercoat beforehand?

Did the bubbles only form when you put on the second paint? Maybe the first coat wasn't dry enough.
If I were you I would give the walls a light wash down with water and sugar soap; then leave it for a few days with the room well ventilated before painting it again.
You could also give the bare plaster (if that is what you have) a primary coat of diluted white emulsion to seal the walls and to give a better coverage with your finished colour.

hi no i definitely didn't use the wrong paint and no i didn't put an under coat on because I pained the same room two years ago with no problem. Someone mentioned it could have been paint gone off. I bought it in woodies on sale. It was a tin that was had the colour added. I have painted for years but have never had such a problem. I'm never buying paint on sale again as its cost me a lot more in the long run. Thanks for your replys.
