Hi I have a 1800 sq ft house to paint - inside and out. Can anyone recommend which brand to use and the cheapest place to buy it?

I had used only Dulux in the past. But I tried out Johnstones interior paint from Altlantic. Have to say I am very pleased with the result. For the outside I decided to spend on the best one I know of, Sandtex. It was a bit pricey but it was worth it. It's up a few yrs and looks very well still. BTW I would haggle with whoever you go for. If your in Dublin you might also try Crown (they have a place on the Malahide Road). Anytime I was over there, the place was full of painters, so that might tell you something. I also found them generally cheaper for brushes etc.

As always, I recommend Colortrend paint (they have a factory outlet in Celbridge, Co Kildare).

By far and away the best quality paint I've ever used.

colortrend all the way,for the exterior, keep away from sandtex, used to be fantastic paint a few years ago,but its quality isnt anything like it used to be,i would recomened not spending a fortune on colortrend paint for the inside, because you will get settlement cracks in most of your house for the first year or two, which will need to be filled and repainted,i would paint the house a neutral colour throughout first, in maybe a dulux, and after a few years when all the cracks are fixed then you can repaint with colortrend...

Piggy-backing on this thread - can anyone tell me what is the best paint to use for a large garden bench made of solid oak. We painted it with dark stain last year, but this is all peeling off and looks horrible. Any help appreciated.
