Paint pealing on bathroom ceiling – Advice needed

I hope someone can help on this one.

Basically the paint on our bathroom ceiling has started to peal, I have previously sanded and painted over the offending areas only to have the peal return a few weeks later. I’m worried that the only option left is to scrape off all the paint, sand and repaint the entire ceiling with waterproof paint. However if anyone has a better suggestion that wont involve me sacrificing me weekend, lower back and sanity I’d really appreciate it.

I don't know of any other way I'm afraid, unless you have a pal that could give ya a hand or any owed favours you could call in!

Make sure you use a good primer and it should stop any further peeling, providing you use the correct paint.
 
My grandmothers apt in city centre dublin had the same problem, dont know what it was called, but we had a white hard plastic tongue and groove material put in on the ceiling. Think we got it in Woodies. Looks fine and no more peeling paint!
 
Thanks for all the good advice. I don't think I'll take any shortcuts on this one as i only want to do it once. Sanding and repainting it is.
