I am decorating my living room have a satin sand ( kind of yellow at the moment) I would like to change it but not too much. I am conflicted as to what I should use. Birch floors and black couches and light brown furniture help!

Have you considered green? You don't have to go with verty pastel or mint green either, a mid green (think sunlight coming through leaves) works very well in even in small spaces (I speak from experience). I have a theory that green goes with everything, because in nature you see every colour flower on a green plant.
