Paid deposit on site still waiting on contracts

Hi all could do with some help i paid 2000 deposit on a site i am buying 9 weeks ago and i have stiil not recieved the contracts i have called the estate agent numerous times he is blaming the seller saying he is difficult but at this stage it is getting ridiculous have full mortgage approval and the bank is requesting plans which i don't have at this stage i am considering reducing my offer which is 50,000 or starting to look at other sites all over again advice what to do please.

Instruct your solicitor to issue a letter requesting receipt of the contracts by a specified date or failing that a refund of your deposit.

Thanks for that told estate agent yesterday that i wil have to start looking elsewhere his reply was these things take time he swore he would call me yesterday with it sorted which he didn't i called him today once again told me he would call me back today with it sorted still waiting for the call this site has been for sale for well over a year would think they would be happy to sell it.

Better idea, Save yourself the fee you might end up paying a solicitor and tell the agent that your offer is good until 5pm next Friday (or whenever you wish). If no contracts or anything received from the vendor's solicitor by this tme, collect your deposit cheque and find another site. There is plenty at the moment.

Weird carry-on in a buyer's market.

Thats the way i am thinking as well, in the current climate i am not prepared to be messed around considering the trouble estate agents are having to sell property.
