Hi,

was wondering could anyone be able to tell me whether they think i might be due tax back - terrified i might owe tax so would like to work it out in my own head. Here are my details

Married, 2 children
earned 49,800 euro, wife Job Seekers (7,000) and 2,800 part time (finished working part time then signed on using her stamps, will run out next month.

p60 reports i paid 6,080 in tax + 3,316 prsi.
Service charge tax relief 68 euro
medical insurance relief 78.20 (can i claim relief for my wife and two children as i pay this also).

Does anyone know how to work it out, do you think i am due tax back.

Got 2010 statement says amount of 35520 taxed at 20% and rest at 41%.
DFSA - 9880 euro for my wife.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards
Fred.

yes, based solely on the info you have provided it would appear you are due a refund in respect of 2009.

I calculate that you are due a refund of approx €700

However, why does the DFSA say that your wife received €9,880 but you state she only received €7,000?

At a 20% rate of tax this is a tax difference of €576 which would all but wipe out the tax refund due

You need to get a cert of taxable benefit from SW for clarification. I have come across this situation many times where the amount entered by revenue did not reflect the actual amount received.

I have made this suggestion many times on this site but have been told by other posters that revenue and SW have been linked since 2006. However the amounts still do not match up
