If planning a summer clearout of the home...
Oxfam Ireland are running a free initiative, you can request a post bag and either send it to them via Post Office or request collection from doorstep.

What to Send:
  • Clothing – Good condition, clean, and wearable items, including vintage and high-street brands.
  • Accessories – Handbags, belts, scarves, hats, and jewellery in good condition.
  • Books – Fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books that are in great shape.
  • Shoes – Gently worn and clean pairs, including trainers, boots, and dress shoes.

I haven't had any problems donating books to several (c. 5-6) charity shops in my area and Dublin city centre. Children's soft toys are generally not accepted. And some don't take any toys. And Oxfam in Francis Street is the only place that I know of that accepts electrical goods (in working order or easily repairable).
