Ok - I am starting a new IT contract in the UK very soon.

There are these companies that assist in setting your company up with an isle of man base - and therefore having to pay very little tax.

They say it is completely tax compliant.
I'm not so sure though.

Generally it seems like a grey area whereby I would be running the risk of having a big tax bill in future years.
As far as I can see no one knows for certain.

So - my quiestion is this:
Worst case scenario I owe the UK governement a big tax bill.
However I am an irish resident.

What would the consequences be given that I am irish?

i.e. what powers would the uk giovernement have to get the tax owed off a non-uk resident?

If this is the case, then steer well clear of this particular minefield.

Revenue authorities in EU jurisdictions have extensive powers to pursue suspected defaulters across national boundaries.
