Overpayment of tax doesn't match the refund i'm being given

I logged on to revenue the other day and seen they calculated I overpaid in tax in 2019. I filled in all my details and submitted the form to get my P21 and have those funds refunded to me, but when I got my P21 today it says my "Final Result: Overpayment = €557" but my "Treatment of Result" is that "A payment of €479.47 will be made to your bank a/c"

Why's there a difference? Shouldn't I be getting a refund of €557? I can't figure out where they got €479 from the document i've been given.

Any underpayments in prior years or tax-credit changes?

Can't see previous years (didn't request P21s for those)
Tax credit changes would be the HRI refund going into my payslip, but that's accounted for.

Are you jointly assessed? Perhaps the balance was paid to your partner. This happened in my case for 2019

IME even if you don't request them they[re done automatcally to arrive at a net figure for the year you requested.

It includes USC in the calculation.


Yes, jointly assessed for the last 2+years.

Nope. Had her check her statement from revenue. Same figure as mine.
