Overpayment of PRSI for 2010

I'm only after noticing that I overpaid PRSI in 2010, I was onto the office about claiming a refund however I was told that they can only go back to 2012 wrt claims of overpayment. Just chancing my arm by asking here but is there anyway of having this looked into or am I snookered?
 
My understanding is that there is a 4 year time limit that came in a number of years ago - same treatment as for tax. Earliest year you can now claim in 2012.
