our back garden was cleared and topsoil put on site waiting for lawn seed to be set back in the middle of april! this didnt happen and now the whole area is covered in weeds which are still growing rapidly.
today i started pulling weeds but i would need about a week to clear the whole site and with a party & bbq planned for next weekend i dont have that much time available to do get the whole thing cleared and looking some way respectable!!

i'm looking for a quick fix solution - can anyone advise.

A strimmer maybe, at least then they would be short weeds, you could have a weed lawn :). After the bbq then you could spray them with weedkiller.

One of the biggest mistakes I made when clearing garden was to spray it when weeks were already grown, I then just had huge dead weeds instead of green ones, still had to pull them eventually as they would have taken forever to rot down.

You could call in your interior designer to help you? I believe that they also do gardening type work?

Rent a rotavator for a day. that might help turn the soil and weeds and make them easier to get out

 I would have expected a reply like this back in the boom but not in the current climate! What size is your garden OP? If really large then I think rustbuckets suggestion is the best idea.

The OP was looking for an interior designer in March of this year. Some people it seems are not effected by the economic climate I suppose. :p

If the gardening seed had been put down back in April, I suspect that there still might be weeds growing in the garden?
I regularly pinch out any weeds that grow in the garden. If you don't keep on top of things then you end up with weeds growing everywhere.
