Over 66 year old widow in PAYE employment with rental income. PRSI due at what class?

Hi all,
I'm trying to help my mother sort out some tax issues and it came as a surprise to me to read that "If you are aged 66 or over you are not liable to pay PRSI." (source: http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it45.html).

My mother is 71 in January and has been paying PRSI all along. The DSP says something slightly different: "Employees who continue in employment after the age of 66 should pay PRSI at Class J or Class K." (source: http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/PRSI---PRSI-Refunds-Section.aspx)

Can someone please help me work out what PRSI she should have paid since she turned 66 so I can help her apply for a refund if due.

I have a related question: My father passed away in Jan 2008 and my mother still only receives the standard "single person's tax credit". I read that she should actually be in receipt of a "widowed person's without dependent child" tax credit. I was talking to Revenue today (but wrong department to be fair) and she seemed to think that she should have received this tax credit since dad died. The problem is I am doing her form 12 (she has some rental income) at the moment and I cannot see where I can claim this tax credit for 2012 (I assume we need to claim the refund for prior years separately before the end of this tax year, which I will help her do). Does anyone know how to claim this credit when completing the Form 12 (it's not on the Form 11 either FWIW)

First section of form 12 under personal details tick "widowed"

Hmm OK but she ticked widowed last year and no credit was changed. Will have to clarify with revenue. I called the PRSI refunds section and the nice chap on the phone said she should get her PRSI back for the last 4 years no bother. Said this happens regularly.

I wonder if you need to go to the "Personal tax credits" page and tick "calculate"? To get the Form to recognise your mom's widowed credit.

Sorry Gervan I should have been clearer: paper based form 12. I think she should get registered for income tax and start using ros as well. That's going to happen before her next return!
