Trying to figure out what order things need to happen in my new build and need advice on the following:

(1) Tiles should be laid before 2nd fix plumbing??
(1) Am I better off having tiles/wooden floors laid before the skirting/architrave goes on??
(2) Presumably the kitchen needs to be painted before the units are installed??

for our extension just finishing now
tiles were laid before 2nd fix
we had our wooden floor put in upstairs before the skirting so they were flush
We are going with painting then kitchen install, then flooring, then skirting in our kitchen but i gather that this is maybe unusual. Our flooring is expensive and our kitchen cabinets take up a lot of floor space so we dont want to floor under them (concrete underneath) in theory we could skirt before the floor goes in (marmoleoum) but i have reservations about that.

@ anon: Surely you should get the tiling in the kitchen done before the units? You should have the footprint of the cabinets from your kitchen design. Give these to the tiler, telling him to leave X ft. from the walls as the cabinets will be there. Should be no bother with that.
Then get your cabinets fitted, and finally your skirting.

Obviously do your painting before all the above.

we are not actually tiling (using marmoleum - a natural linseed lino) so cutting to fit in. to be honest we could do either since we havent started yet but what is the advantage to either?
