Opinions on brick facing on internal walls

What do people think of putting brick onto internal walls for decorative effect. I'm thinking of putting coloured brick on one wall of the kitchen. Is it dated looking though? I think it adds character and I could always paint over it in the future if we got sick of it.

I built my house 8 years ago and used an "old your russet" brick entirely in the kitchen as I too wanted the old style effect, and I must say it worked very well. Be sure to put a sealer over the brick, this is a clear water like substance that stops the bricks weeping and emitting too much dust. Also, you will not be able to "chase" the walls for sockets as in a normal block wall, the wires will have to be fed through the cavity.Re-apply the sealer after a few years as it will get quiet dusty.
