OPFA or Stamps?

Hi everyone,
Just wonder if someone could offer advice? I'm about to be let go my my job and I'm a single parent with one child (9 months old -no support from father). As I was working full time I never applied for any benifites etc. I went back to work 8 weeks after my ababy was born, so I try my hardest to stay employed. Unfortunately I don't see myself getting anything soon. My question is, when I am unemployed, should I claim One Parent Family Allowance or do I claim dole or stamps? Just trying to get myself organised before I go to the welfare office so I know what to expect!
Any advice offered very much appriciated!
 
as far as i am aware you would be entitled to full one parent family allowance and half the amount of JB every week. Thats what i got, but i am going back about 10 years ago. Best to go to your local socal welfare officer who would have application forms and provide you with information.
 
Great thanks... I'll look into it. I went back so early because I didn't know what my entitlements were and i needed to money since I had no partner.
