Opening a UK bank account in NI?

I am far from Northern Ireland, could i get a friend to open a bank account for me in my name?

No re friend,as they need to see u sign the paperwork and they will scan the passport/drivers licence when they can match the mugshots with you.
Have you tried going into a local branch of the bank down here and see can they do the necessary ID work?
