I had an accident in my friends car. Single vehicle ,no damage except to the vehicle, nobody injured . She has opened driving on her insurance, therefore she is claiming for the repairs through her insurance.

I have given her insurance company my drivers license and personal details.

Am I required to inform my insurance company of the accident even if I am not claiming under my personal motor insurance?

Also, am I required to answer “Yes” when I am asked do I have any claims for my future insurance? My understanding is that I will be responding no but legally would I be correct?

What does your policy terms and conditions say?

I think it's correct to answer "no" to a question like "have you had any claims (in the past x years)?" but if they ask "have you had any accidents" then I think that you have to answer "yes". Again check the terms and conditions of the relevant quote form/policy.

Only seeing this post now as was away for a while.

If you Romy have Driving Other Cars under your Motor Policy and if it provides Comprehensive cover (which some Policies now do, although the majority only provide Third Party), then there is dual insurance and your Policy will also be paying out for the damage to your friends car.
