Rented house we moving to strangely has only one phone point in a bedroom upstairs. We want a phone and broadband point downstairs - will eircom fit one for free in a central location? Landlord is the non-accommodating type so don't fancy investing too much of our own dosh in the place.

I seriously doubt Eircom would fit one for free.

You might have to look into the systems that run through the electrical system, and/or a cordless phone.

No chance of eircom providing extra phone point for free.

Thing cordless phone, wireless modem, or Devolo-type network over electrical circuits.

One phone point is quite enough these days.

its very strange that the only point is in a bedroom upstairs.

the usual location for the main phone point is in a hallway on the ground floor... and then spurs are taken to other rooms..

are you sure theres none elsewhere??

i think an electrician could do this for you for a reasonable fee.

Recently had a new eircom line put in. Only need it for BB so wanted it in a back bedroom. Engineer said they only put lines in nearest the outside point, so it had to go downstairs. He said get an electrician or do it yourself it you need another point upstairs. Done it ourselves...engineer also said line is fine for BB, but turns out it's not. So will be cancelling line after all the trouble in getting it put in.
