Hi all,

I'm thinking of putting some money into an online trading account. Etrade is the only one i'm familiar with. I was wondering if there were any other accounts out there.

Secondly,

Is it a bit niave for someone with no trading experince to involve themselves in ths activity. I was think of putting a few grand into a mix of chinese, commdities and steady irish stocks.

Thanks in advance.

Go into the Financial Best Buys forum on this site and check out the many threads on online brokers.

Hi shortcorner,

The easiest and safest way in my opinion to get exposure to the Chinese Stock market is through the Quinn Life China fund.

See there complete list of funds below
http://www.quinn-life.com/qdi_freeway_funds.html

The china fund is based on the FTSE/XINHUA china 25 index. This index is a mix of Mainland China companies and Hong Kong companies.

I like this index because it includes a lot commodities and is a much less volatile then the other Chinese indexes.

See the link below for more details on this

The index grew by 22.3% (annualised) in the 2001-2007 period - how did the fund perform in the same timeframe?

All the prices are in the link below. The china fund grew by 23.79 % in 6 months.

Check out Interactive Brokers. The trading community has good reviews on their reliability and support also tons of markets to access. That would be my next choice if I have to leave my current broker.

Good advice but I'm not sure theres any safe way to invest in China right now. I hope I dont get sucked back into investing there just before it pops :(

Feb 27 was a warning. It may happen again. Although it recovered back to the level previous to that day. As long as you have a cut off on your losses and comfortable with it, invest away.
